The project
A duplex community on Cross Street: in the full plan 304 duplex homes with basement apartments, five community buildings and a 44,662 sq ft retail building. Phase 1A is a major subdivision of 116 duplex units and a 5,041 sq ft community building. Lakewood's planning board approved the phase 1 subdivision on September 1.

- Hearing held
Ocean County Planning Board voted unanimously to give final approval to Phase 1A, on conditions that include a traffic signal, Cross Street road improvements and a developer's agreement with the county. This is the county's review, not the township's approval.

Lakewood Planning Board minutes record a motion to approve SD 2667, the preliminary and final major subdivision to create 129 lots, all in favor. The applicant's attorney said this phase is 58 duplex buildings (116 units) and fully conforming, and the approval carries a cross access easement discussed at the hearing. Board members disagreed about how the earlier general development plan limits the total number of units; the board said it would take that up when later phases are applied for.
